WHO'S PAID WHAT?

The subject of directors' remuneration has been at the forefront of UK corporate governance concerns of late. The issue peaked during the shareholder spring of 2012, although that backlash failed to be repeated in 2013. The 2014 reporting season is now underway and it will be interesting to see how the Department for Business, Innovation & Skills' (BIS) new Directors' Remunerating Report Regulations affect investors' voting patterns. The area of directors' remuneration has never been short on requirements, guidelines and principles. The BIS rewrite of the law governing these disclosures (which commenced in early 2012 and was finalised in August 2013) will be obligatory for all UK-incorporated quoted companies from October 2013.
