The vast majority of individuals and companies pay the tax that they owe. They may seek to plan their tax affairs in such a way as to make use of the exemptions and reliefs that parliament has put in place. But relatively few engage in aggressive tax avoidance - engaging in contrived and artificial arrangements in order to reduce, or even eliminate, their tax liability.
