The accounting regulator responsible for inspecting the UK's audit firms is expressing frustration at the slow progress being made to improve independence between auditors and their clients. Revealing the findings of the annual audit quality inspections (AQI), the Financial Reporting Council (FRC) said that this year 59% of audits inspected were classed as good or acceptable with limited improvements required, up from last year's 46%.
