The Autumn Statement dominated the headlines for one day. There was nothing to shock the press into restarting the debate on big companies not paying what is due, despite HMRC's pledge to keep the main rate of corporation tax at 20% from April 2015, and continue the last government's trend of announcing tax cuts years in advance and repeating them annually, as if to claim double points.
