MANDATORY DIRECT DEBITS FOR TIME TO PAY

HMRC is making changes to the way payments due under the Time to Pay scheme are handled, with direct debits becoming mandatory from 3 August 2015 for any new arrangements which are set up. The changes were flagged in HMRC's blog, Working with tax agents, with the taxman suggesting that accountants and tax agents should alert their clients to the change so that they have the necessary bank details available in order to set up a direct debit, putting the onus on advisers to publicise the change.
