Grant Thornton has lost the firm's sole FTSE 100 client, as retailer Sports Direct has been relegated to the FTSE 250 following the recent quarterly reshuffle of the top tier of the London Stock Exchange, which has seen four companies leave the benchmark listing in an audit market worth over £500m a year. In the latest analysis of the audit market, conducted by Accountancy, the FTSE 100 audit market was valued at £534m in 2014-15, with audit related fees and non-audit fees pushing the total beyond £784m. The market is dominated by the Big Four, with only BDO handling one FTSE 100 audit for Randgold. The changes, which took effect on 21 March, also saw Deloitte losing one FTSE 100 client, as Hikma Pharmaceuticals fell out of the list, but picked up a replacement in publishing company Informa, which entered the FTSE 100 for the first time.
