Analyzing the Gross Output Change of Energy Sector Industry in Japan between 1995 and 2005 by Decomposition Analysis

The main purpose of this study is to analyze the change of gross output of energy sector industry in Japan from 1995 through 2005. In order to conduct this study, we employ the structure change analysis of the input-output tables, to investigate changes over time, known as the "decomposition analysis"1'. In applying this method, which is designed to decompose the changes in industry production, we use four factors. Those are (1) domestic final demand expansion (DD), (2) export expansion (EE), (3) import substitution (IS), and (4) technical coefficient changes (IO).
