Applications of Digital Ink-Jet Printing on Textiles

There are three key technologies that must be integrated to produce a digitally printed fabric. First, there must be software capable of taking in a scanned image, altering the image to suit the designer, and sending data to the printer in such a way as to faithfully reproduce color consistently. Second, the actual printing machine must be capable of reliably printing high-resolution images as rapidly as possible. Finally, the inks must be based on the same chromophores that are used in traditional printing to produce a print that is colorfast and has no undesirable metameric properties.
