We live in a science fiction world.Elements from science fiction books,movies,and television shows of only twenty years ago are commonplace today.For a simple example,watch an episode of the original Star Trek television show-isn't Captain Kirk merely using a mobile phone when he whips out that"communicator"?Why should the textile industry be any different? Textiles are an integral part of our modern,science fiction world.Why should fabric have to lie around just covering things,when it could be a part of things,when it could be smart? In fact,quite a lot of fabric is smart today,and getting smarter.There are entire categories of smart textiles,in myriad applications.The category that has really caught the public's imagination is electronic textiles.
