Species tree built using RAxML on the basis of 47 one-to-one orthologues. The sea lamprey was used as the outgroup. The topology of the tree was confirmed by MrBayes (see also Supplementary Fig. ). Red stars indicate WGDs after the 1R/2R event; numbers at branches indicate bootstrap support values based on 100 resampled data sets; the scale bar indicates the average substitutions per site; the dotted lines associate the taxon names with the branch ends.
