摘要

This paper offers a defence of the MCQ paper, with an account of the ways in which the examiners try to ensure its reliability and validity in testing the knowledge base of MRCGP candidates. The MCQ group tries to ensure that the knowledge tested is that appropriate to a well trained and well informed young general practitioner.
