Relying on more sense for enhancing lower limb prostheses control: a review

The amputation of a limb is an irreversible intervention into the physiological integrity of a human being. Limb-loss is often caused by cardiovascular complications or diabetes; increasing obesity and aging population are the main contributing factors [1, 2]. Recent projections indicate that the number of major limb amputations will increase substantially [1].
