Altered circFADS2 and miR-15a-5p expression in sepsis is likely induced by LPS. Expression of circFADS2, mature miR-15a-5p and miR-15a-5p precursor in plasma samples from sepsis patients (n = 50) and healthy controls (n = 50) collected prior to treatment was analyzed by RT-qPCR (a), **p < 0.01. To test whether the altered expression was caused by LPS, HBEpCs were cultured in the medium supplemented with 0, 1, 2, 4, 8 and 10 μg/ml LPS (Sigma-Aldrich) for 48 h, followed by RT-qPCR to determine gene expression.
