News from Biology Open in 2020

Fears that a long-planned meeting of the Biology Open (BiO) Editor team would be disrupted by the then-scheduled Brexit were unfounded, with the team from the BiO editorial office and the majority of BiO's Editors gathering in Oxford on Halloween 2019. This was the first Editor meeting hosted by current Editor-in-Chief Steven Kelly, who treated the Editors to a tour of his college. The meeting itself involved an in-depth review of BiO's progress, and a lengthy discussion of how to meet the challenges faced by BiO in the ever-evolving publishing ecosystem (e.g. the implications of Plan S, becoming an affiliate journal for ).
