Applications of MicroRNAs in the Diagnosis and Prognosis of Lung Cancer

IntroductionLung cancer is the leading cause of cancer death worldwide, due to its late diagnosis and poor outcome. MicroRNAs (miRNAs) are small non-coding RNAs that regulate gene expression at the posttranscriptional levels by either degrading or blocking translation of messenger RNA targets. Accumulating evidence indicates that miRNAs play a pivotal role in the development and progression of human malignancies, including lung cancer.
