Thyroid STAtus and 6-Year Mortality in Elderly People Living in a Mildly Iodine-Deficient Area: The Aging in the Chianti Area (InCHIANTI) Study

ObjectivesThe relationship between thyroid dysfunction and mortality in elderly subjects is still undefined. In this population study we tested the hypothesis that in older subjects, living in a mildly iodine-deficient area, thyroid dysfunction may be associated with increased mortality independent of potential confounders.
