The PACE (PAtient Care Expert) System represents the next generation in nursing informatics decision-support and care plan development. The system combines (1) the most extensive regularly maintained computer-based knowledge base available for the body of nursing knowledge with (2) newly created system software that permits easy care plan development using this knowledge base. This easy-to-use system makes quality care plan construction a reality, leading to cost-effective improvements in patient outcomes.
