摘要

A microcomputer-based system (LABDOC) which automatically provides printed interpretations of specialized clinical laboratory test results has been developed and used for three years, providing 50 to 100 reports each day. Retrospective evaluation has demonstrated that the programs are as accurate as specialists (although several possible diagnoses are usually identified rather than a single disorder). The programs also provide technical information (such as potential drug interferences) which is generally not known by physicians. The interpretations are of particular value to general practitioners and to consultants outside their area of specialty.
