Information System Use in Patient Care - Future Directions: Medical Information Systems - Problems of Integration

摘要

The purpose of this paper is to discuss the problems of integration in medical information systems and suggest approaches for achieving totally integrated systems required to satisfy complete hospital information needs. It covers a survey of medical information systems. This survey includes a wide spectrum of systems varying from those which simply support basic accounting and financial management needs to those which support several different functional areas, such as medical, paramedical and support areas. The results of the survey are used to establish a baseline for addressing the integrated systems of the future which will be used to assist in decision making. Technology projection and cost analysis are also discussed.
