Hospital Information Systems as We Enter the Decade of the 80s

This paper will address the findings of a recent survey conducted by Marion J. Ball, Ed.D. and Stanley E. Jacobs, Ph.D.A brief history of computers in the medical environment will be covered. Basic terms and levels of hospital information systems sophistication will be addressed. The findings of the survey will be graphically illustrated and a cautious prediction will be made as to what the hospital population can expect in the next decade of computer use in their institutions.
