Many drugs are sold in the market which do not often correspond to the correspond to the established drugs used in the same formulations. The botanical identification, ayurvedic evaluation, chemical constituents of the drugs/plants sold under the names of Rasna, Bhunimba, Daru haridra, Murva, Bharngi, Sankhapupsi, Jivanti and Pasanabheda with relevanceto South Indian Crude Drug Markets are evaluated in this paper. The present attempt will aid in utilising the alternate drugs sold in the paper.
