Clinics and Churches: lifeworlds and health-seeking practices of older women with noncommunicable disease in rural South Africa

BackgroundIn this article we describe a phenomenological lifeworld study based on the theory of communicative action of 13 women with noncommunicable disease (NCDs) in a rural area in South Africa. The purpose of the study was to generate key concepts of health care access and the management of NCDs in a rural South African context.
