Obesity malnutrition requires correction - on that society and science agree - but there is no consensus on how best to achieve the desired ends. The impotence of most “scientific” weight reduction programs encourages the appearance of opportunists; they offer unusual programs, such as the use of chorionic gonadotrophin - for a stiff fee. As physicians, we must at least assist the obese patient in tailoring a sensible plan to suit his needs. In so doing, we may be able to save his money and his health.
