Disparities in health outcomes among seniors without a family physician in the North West Local Health Integration Network: a retrospective cohort study

Background:The relationship between having a family physician and in-hospital and postdischarge health outcomes among older adults is unclear. We ascertained the proportion of seniors who did not have a family physician and were admitted to an Ontario tertiary care centre, and we determined the association between havingot having a family physician and in-hospital mortality, 1-year mortality and readmission after live discharge.
