Arterial stiffness and heart rate variability analysis in patients with mild–moderate obstructive sleep apnoea with and without excessive daytime sleepiness

BackgroundPatients with severe obstructive sleep apnoea syndrome (OSAS) show higher risk of cardiovascular disease (CV) and exhibit an increased arterial stiffness and a deregulation of autonomic nervous system (ANS) activity. Data are lacking in patients with mild-moderate OSAS. The study aimed to analyze heart rate variability (HRV) and arterial stiffness in patients with mild–moderate OSAS, with and without symptoms of excessive daytime sleepiness (EDS).
