ObjectiveThe commonly performed sitting position with head extended during thyroidectomy has been shown to cause adverse effects on cerebral regional oxygen saturation (CrSO2). Therefore, the present study aimed to investigate the effects of two well-known anaesthetic agents, desflurane and sevoflurane, on CrSO2 in patients undergoing thyroidectomy in the semi-sitting position by near-infra-red spectroscopy monitoring.
