Between 1963 and 1971, twenty-five adult patients underwent cutaneous ureterostomies. The operation was performed for neurogenic bladder in sixteen cases, malignant diseases in eight cases and congenital bladder neck obstruction in one case. Sixteen patients were alive and well at the time of writing. The follow-up period ranged between 5 days and 7 years. The results were analysed and advantages of this type of urinary diversion discussed.
