The rapid increase in the literature on African development has prompted Africanists from all around the world to analyze and debate the development prospects of Africa.Professor Li Anshan’s work is a fascinating one in this category. Based on existing literature, he comes to a conclusion totally different from the prevailing viewpoint that the future of Africa is pessimistic and gloomy. Li argues that development is rather different from modernization, the former being a dynamic historical progress rather than a fixed model.
