Neglecting the urban intangible cultural heritage will result in the deletion of traditional culture in today’s Chinese cities. Besides inheriting from the past, the key to the protection of intangible cultural heritage lies in its innovation and regeneration. Having experienced ups-and-downs over the years, Cantonese painted porcelain is both a national intangible cultural heritage and a shining cultural brand of Guangzhou. What’s the way ahead for Cantonese painted porcelain under the new context of neo-urbanization process and the construction of world cultural city? That is a huge challenge for Cantonese painted porcelain industry. Lian Zeqiang, a ceramic artist and calligraphist based in Australia, has devoted himself to Chinese art studies for years and earnestly recommend the profound Chinese ceramic culture to the world. He has been in the Cantonese painted porcelain profession for decades and tried to inject fresh vitality into this industry.
