The employment of sound in exhibitions has become a new trend of contemporary museums. The Maritime Museum Rotterdam and History Museum Rotterdam provide impressive examples on sound-oriented exhibition design. Sound is an addition to traditional exhibiting approaches. The use of sound in museum exhibitions enriches the exhibited contents as it is attached to specific historical events and cultural patterns. With an emphasis on interaction, the use of sound helps the visitors to realize their cultural identification from the exhibition.
