Master Program of Social Work is supposed to be the cradle of senior professional social workers. However it experienced the embarrassment that most graduates did not choose to work in the social work field. Adopting qualitative method, this study focused on the career choices among Master of Social Work graduates, based on a survey of Class 201X in A University. The result showed that, because of the low sal-ary, low level of specialization, low social recognition and limited career development, Master of Social Work graduates generally believed that becoming a social worker was a helpless choice. Social workers could not survive simply on the enthusiasm of“helping others”. In addition, Mater of Social Work education could not provide students professional and career-oriented training. Students only wanted to get a master’ s degree from a famous university when they decided to choose the Master of Social Work program in A University. Confronted with such a situation, efforts should be made from both the government and the university. On the one hand, the government should help to improve the social recognition and salary of social workers, and on the other hand, universities should adjust training mode of Master of Social Work program to make it more practical and career-oriented.%社会工作专业硕士教育项目，本应是培养社会工作高级专门人才的摇篮，然而却遭遇了毕业生普遍选择在非社会工作领域就职的尴尬。对于此问题，采用质性研究方法考察了A大学201X级社会工作专业硕士毕业生的职业选择。研究结果显示，由于薪水低、专业化程度不高、社会认可度低以及职业发展受限等因素，社会工作专业硕士毕业生们普遍认为成为一名社会工作者是一种无奈的选择。社会工作者不可能仅仅依靠“助人理念”而生存。此外，社会工作专业硕士教育也不能为学生们提供专业化、职业化的训练，以致其报考A大学社会工作专业硕士项目就是为了一个名牌大学的硕士学位而已。为改变这种状况，政府和学校两方面都应努力，一则提高社会工作者的社会认可度和薪资水平，二则调整社会工作专业硕士项目的培养模式，使其更加实用和以职业为导向。
