Considering the innovation in the social management and the promotion of the overall management based on demo graphic information in Shanxi Province, the paper explores ways to promote the social management innovation, pointing out that the sound information network is the base, promotion of overall system application is the core and the innovation of the service model of urban popula tion management is the key.%结合山西省以人口信息化建设作为创新社会管理、提升整体工作水平的实践，探讨了如何以人口信息化助推社会管理创新的问题，指出健全的信息网络是基础、推进全员系统应用是核心、创新城镇人口管理服务模式是关键。
