It provided new method for breeding new varieties and quality improvement, and speeded up the breeding process. The main application of high -throughput sequencing technology including whole genome de novo sequencing and depth re - sequencing, genetic difference analysis, development of molecular markers, genetic linkage analysis, epigenetic analysis and transcriptome analysis. In this review, the utilization of high - throughput sequencing technology in agricultural research during the past several years was outlined, and its broad application prospect in modern agricultural biotechnology was showed, too.
