At present, EEC has hertome thirdbig trade pariner of Shanxi only below NorthAmerica and Eastern Asia. The use and thecirculation of Euro t`ill exert a significantinfluence on Shanxi’s foreign trade.Above all, the use of Euro is to bringahout the opportunity for the trade & invest-ment relatioIlship bett`een Shanxi and EEC,to create a better eircumstance for the deve1-opment of Shanxi’s foreign trade, to facili-tate Shanxi’s opening the market of EEC, tobenefit Sha11xi’s implementing the diversifiedstrategy of expott market, to do good toShanxi’s utilizing the capitals in the Euro’szone and to favor Shanxi’s setting up someoverseas enterprises in the Euro’s zone tocarry out transnational husi11ess. Moreover,the use of Euro brings ahout some new chal-lenge to Shanxi’s foreign trade: the negativeinfluence on the competition of Shanxi’s ex-ported goods and the differential - price salein the export selling; the additional pressureon Shanxi’s enterprises due to the increase ofconversion cost and the transparency of pricecost; the continued existence of conversionadventure; the potential appearance of con-sequent trade protectionism. Therefor thecompetition between Shanxi and Eastern &Southern Europe will be becoming more andmore fierce.
