Some square Dings were unearthed from a higher level of Erligang in Zhengzhou in the Shang Dynasty, which were ones of the earliest large bronzes in China. There were several cracks on large square Ding and the casting procedure and special characteristics appeared through them. We call this kind of casting method the joint - casting technology. It’s primitive joint - casting skill that cast this square Ding.
