To choose the protector of cable sheath reasonably, based on analysis for application situation and grounding method of 27. 5kV cable, this paper suggests that: the actual situation of insulation levels of outer cable sheath which decline over time should be fully considered; and the interactions and constraint factors among various parameters should also be considered comprehensively in combination with the rated voltage, operating voltage, residual voltage and other key technical parameters of the protector.
