Penetrating Depth of Comet SL9 Fragments into Jovian Atmosphere

正 Comet Shoemaker-Levy 9 entering the Jovian atmosphere was suffered ablation and dissociation as a result of interaction with the atmosphere.The comet fragments are modeled as 1012,1013 and 1014kg with density of 3.0,1.0,0.8,0.5 and 0.2g/cm3,respectively.Our results show that these fragments explode below the ammonia cloud layer,near the 1-bar level,consisting with the resnlt of Mac Low & Zahnle.
