The qualitative and quantitative analysis techniques for the carbon deposition were described. The qualitative analysis methods included NMR, IR, Raman, UV-Vis spectroscopic/confocal fluorescence microscope and acid-dissolve/ extraction/GC-MS technique, and the quantitative analysis methods included combustion-infrared detection, TG analysis, temperature programmed oxidation-chromatography and sound wave detection. The ratio of carbon to hydrogen in the carbon deposition species was analyzed.
