Objective To study the effects and side effects of oxcarbazepine in treating primary trigeminal neuralgia. Methods Oxcarbazepine were applied to 29 patients with primary trigeminal neuralgia and failed to respond to the treatment of carbamazepine or cannot endure the side effects. An assessment was made based on the degree of pain after one and four weeks respectively. Meanwhile, side effects from these patients were observed respectively. Results The curative rate of oxcarbazepine was 55. 5%(16/29) and 72. 4% (23/33)respectively after one and four weeks. Conclusion It is safe and effective to use oxcarbazepine in the medical treatment of trigeminal neuralgia especially for the patients who are unresponsive to carbamazepinen or cannot endure side effects.%目的 现察奥卡西平治疗原发性三叉神经痛的疗效和不良反应,方法 对29例经卡马西平治疗无效或不能耐受其不良反应的原发性三叉神经痛患者单用奥卡西平进行治疗,分别于治疗1周和4周后对患者的疼痛情况进行评估,同时观察患者的不良反应.结果 奥卡西平治疗1周和4周后的有效率分别为55.2％ (16/29)和79.3％ (23/29)；无严重不良反应发生.结论 臭卡西平治疗原发性三叉神经痛安全有效,特别适合于用卡马西平治疗无效或不能耐受其不良反应的患者.
