In recent years,carbon nanoparticles called carbon dots(CD),have displayed the ability to photoluminescence when surface functionalized with polymer chains.This phenomenon is similar to the photoluminescence observed in carbon nanotubes and carbon nanodiamonds.While the mechanism of this phenomenon has only been theorized.Researchers have demonstrated the capacity to tailor the optical properties of the carbon dot
