Jin An was a well-known poet monk across Hunan province in the late Qing Dynasty and Republic of China. Most of his early poems are of hardship-chanting genre. In his middle-age, Jin An was invited to join the Blue Lake Poetry Society established by Wang Kaiyun. Greatly influenced by the poetic theories of Wang Kaiyun, Jin An imitated the elaborate style of the poets during the period of the Han, Wei and Six Dynasties and wrote many profound and far-reaching poems. Although Jill An was a monk, his poetry's a natural flow of true emotions, which made him very different from other Hu Xiang poets.%释敬安是清末民初湖南著名的诗僧,早年作诗多出于苦吟,中年应邀参加王闿运创办的碧湖诗社,受王闿运诗歌理论的影响,取法汉魏六朝诗歌华丽的特点,辞旨清远,虽为僧人而作诗不乏性情,在湖湘诗人中别具一格。
