This paper mainly discussed the twist structures of two self-twist yarns—nphase yarn and phase yarn and performance difference between the two. In terms of the twist structures, there are three kinds of yarn zones: the twisted-twisted zone, twisted-untwisted zone, and untwisted-untwisted zone in one cycle length of self-twist yarn. The existence of phase difference makes the length of untwisted-untwisted zone decreased. When the phase difference (value c) is close or equal to the length of the untwisted zone ( value b) , the length of untwisted-untwisted zone becomes minimal so that the formed self-twist yarn consists of the best zones in the twist structure of self-twist yarn: twisted-twisted zone, and twisted-untwisted zone.
