A yarn twisting assembly has drafting rollers feeding two threads to two converging suction slits. The suction slits converge and terminate esp. maintaining the separation required at the twisting station. A yarn drafting assembly has a pair of rollers surrendering two stretched threads via an air-permeable transport element (15) to a compression zone with two side-by-side suction slits. The assembly further has a twist-stop drum, which defines the compression zone outlet and clamps the thread. The thread twisting unit follows the compression zone.
