近代学者徐信符先生，一生处在社会变革和国运危难之际，但他能够保持传统儒者品格，不慕名利，致力于读书、藏书和教书，取得了丰硕的学术成就。他热心收集和整理广东地方文献，做了多方面的工作。他继承叶昌炽和伦明“纪事诗体藏书家传”传统，创作了《广东藏书纪事诗》，为明代以来广东藏书家立传，彰显广东藏书史实。他还是一位本色诗人，在国难时期，他创作大量诗歌，全面反映穗港沦陷区人们的流离生活。他创作的《香港》组诗，多角度反映日军暴行，其中一首专门揭露日军“慰安妇”制度罪行，成为诗歌史上第一位接触这一题材的诗人，体现了一位正直学者和诗人的良知。%Xu Xinfu, a modern scholar, lived in the time when China was in dire peril. He achieved fruitful academic achievements for he kept the traditional Confucian character to dedicate to reading, book collecting and teaching, but not for fame and wealth. He was devoted to collecting and collating Guang-dong literature. He inherited the tradition of Ye Changchi and Lun Ming who had written many chronicle-poems for bibliophiles, thus writing Chronicle-poems for Guangdong Bibliophiles. He was a natural poet who wrote a large number of poems to fully reflect the displaced lives of the people in Guangzhou and Hong Kong that were occupied by enemies. As an honest scholar and poet, XU Xinfu published Hongkong, group poems, to expose Japanese atrocities, especially the poem to disclose the crime of Japanese comfort women system, and he became the first poet who wrote poems on the same theme in the history of poetry.
