Even it is so far away from us , we can still feel it in abundant literary heritage, among which is Great Gatsby, which marks the highest point of Fitzgerald’s artistic achievement. It shows us a vivid picture of the 1920’s with its surface prosperity and underlying sadness. The failure of American dream, the "flapper", the contrast between the rich and the poor and the crisis of value are all reflected in characters and details of this novel.
