TLR9 ( Toll-like receptor 9 ) is one of the microbial pathogen-associated molecular pattern ( PAMP ) receptors. TLR9 recognizes stimulatory CpG-ODN and allows pathogen recognition receptors ( PRRs ) to present on innate immune cells and become activated. TLR9 plays an important role in innate immune system, such as sepsis, inflammatory foam cell formation, autoimmune disease, concanavalin A-induced hepatitis and ischemia reperfusion injury ( IRI ).
