Li Xiaohua’s The Patients records the life experiences of the writer,from the specific view of a soldier,fusing the sight of an excellent poet and successful businessman. The novel tells us a story about a man who lived in the grand courtyard in Beijing and joined the army when he was 14 years old. In the 1980s,he wrote poems. In the 1990s,he made business. After 2000,he went to Vancouver to look after his son who was in a local middle school.
