摘要:On the basis of a detailed introduction to the concept of language learners’needs, this paper illustrates the importance of needs analysis, both pre course analysis and ongoing analysis, in curriculum designing. By doing so, teachers can not only collect factual information for the purpose of setting broad goals related to language content; but also gather information about learners which can be used to guide the learning process once it’s under way. Learners, on the other hand, can be aware of their own learning under the direction of the specified objectives.
摘要:Gender discrimination is felt and found universally, and sexism in language is no exception. Sexist languages exist in both English and Chinese. An analysis of linguistic sexism will promise us the assumptions that language is emblematic of and constitutive of social identity.

摘要:This paper mainly focuses on investigating to what extent and how listening comprehension was affected by students’ anxiety, which was considered to be one of the factors to which EFL/ESL teachers must pay attention. The author of the thesis used a questionnaire on trait anxiety and one on state anxiety to look into students’ anxiety levels exhibited in the listening part of the College English Band IV Test. 52 subjects from the Inner Mongolia (Polytechnic) University of Technology were involved in the investigation. Data collected from the investigation were statistically analyzed using SPSS 10.0. The research findings indicate that anxiety is a factor to affect the students’ listening performances, that means the reduction of trait anxiety levels may facilitate listening performances of the students. Visualization is a promising technique for treatment. 〔
摘要:In China the acquisition of collocations is considered as one of the most difficult points for the Chinese students in their foreign language learning. So far there are few empirical studies involving the Chinese students’ acquisition of collocational knowledge. The author of the present thesis attempts to examine the acquisition of collocational knowledge in the Chinese students from the productive aspect by investigating the acquisition of collocations in the students at three proficiency levels: elementary, intermediate and advanced. The present study aims at finding out whether there are any proficiency-related differences in the acquisition of collocations, and which collocation types are acquired in the early stage of foreign language learning and which are acquired in the later stage. Altogether 110 students have participated in this study. The results have shown that there are indeed proficiency-related differences in the acquisition of collocations and that there are specific types of collocation that are acquired in the early stages of language learning, and some types are acquired in the later stages of language learning. 〔

摘要:Based on the results of the questionnaire survey,supplemented with the classroom observation and individual interview,the author probes into the reasons why Chinese non-English majors use memory strategies infrequently.On the one hand,the students do not know about memory techniques and on the other hand,they seldom receive memory strategy training in class.Therefore,it is strongly suggested that teachers be encouraged to become familiar with recent learner strategy research findings,and integrate the teaching of language learning strategies with classroom instruction plans.Only in this way can they offer their students a great deal of guidance in experimenting with new different strategies to enhance their learning.

摘要:This article discusses that the development of new criticism is the anti-romantic thrust of Eliot’s thinking. Famously he wrote: "Poetry is not a turning loose of emotion, but an escape from emotion; it is not the expression of personality, but an escape from personality". The Love Song of J.Alfred Prufrock is a poem with a notable modern emotional coloring.The title of the poem is ironic in that the "Love Song" is in fact about the absence of love. It is interesting also for its method of presentation.Eliot’s poetry said more about the moden chaos and their volumes put together.
