Anita Brookner is a renowned British female writer and remarkable for her depiction of single intellectual women and their existential plight . She won the 1984 Booker Prize by the novel Hotel du Lac and then James Tait Black Memorial prize in 2010 . This thesis tries to analyze the single intellectual female group in Anita Brookner’s novels from the perspective of feminism and show intellectual women’s plight in the society by describing three female protagonists’ daily life and sufferings .
