贵州高原的最早居民为濮人。汉代起，华夏、氐羌、苗蛮、百越等古族系自各方移入，经长期广泛接触、交流，于唐宋时期形成诸多单一民族，共创贵州高原文化。在贵州18个世居民族中，苗、布依、侗、水、仡佬5族人口主体在贵州。其中，仡佬族及其独特的文化，经历了古老而新生的漫长历程。%The earliest people on Guizhou Plateau are called Pu people. Since Han Dynasty such ancient tribes as Huaxia,Dijiang,Miaoman and Baiyue moved away in all directions from Central China,resulting in many ethnicities. Of 18 aboriginal ethnicities in Guizhou,Miao,Buyi,Dong,Shui and Gelao are the majority,of which Gelao and its unique culture are worth noticing,for it has experienced a long,old yet renewed process.
